co.mments.com - An extremely useful tool for BAPP!!

A few of us have been getting frustrated trying to keep track of "comment conversations". Once you've commented on numerous posts, how on earth do you remember which posts you've commented on and keep up with the replies!?

I HAVE THE ANSWER!

Here, simply sign up with an email address and password to create an account. Then, every time you comment on a blog, quickly copy and paste the URL of the post you've commented on into the "Track" box on co.mment, and voilà!! All new comments appear instantly on our co.mment account. Bookmark this bad boy, and you're good to go!

As you can tell, I'm quite excited about this tool, as it's going to save me BUCKETLOADS of time!

Hope you all enjoy the benefits!

Just to add to that, unfortunately I just discovered that if the post you are trying to add to co.mment.com has a privacy setting that requires comments to be authorised before being published, co.mment won't work for that blog.

I'm really running with this co.mment.com thing!

I've just sat and played around with my blog page for about 2 hours solid, and after a lot of fiddling with the HTML coding of my blog template I was able to add a "Track with co.mments" link to the bottom of my posts. This means that if you're signed in to co.mment, you can click this link while viewing the comments of my post, and co.mments will automatically open with the URL pasted in. All you have to do is click "track", and you're following the comments for my post!

I am leaving it alone now, for the good of my health!!

Genius. Felt sure there had to be a way of getting technology to remember what I couldn't! Shall definitely be getting involved and will have a go at putting the little button on as well- I'll let you know if I get stuck!

I'm stuck. haha. Can't seem to work out where to put the coding into the template (even down to which page I should be on?) and it keeps telling me there's an error with the code, though I'm doing copy-paste from co.mments' own page.

On the plus side, I'm tracking this conversation now so should know immediately when you respond! Thanks Liam

oooh...you can add the tracking page to Google Reader so it will appear in the same place as new blog posts! (Apologies if that seemed obvious, getting a little carried away now)

really!? that would be even better!

Ah I think I see what you mean! I think I've done it! Don't worry about the coding, it took me such a long time and it was just trail and error.

Yes!!!!!! I have *finally* managed to embed it...not in the most artistic of places but hey, it's there!!!

(For any future reference, I did NOT use the code for Blogger, the one for 'Other' was the one I pasted as I kept getting told I had invalid A tags.)

I just signed up! I'm so happy to any time saving technologies such as the Delicious account and now this co.mments account, this should be in the handbook for next year!

Aisha - I ended up doing the same as you; using the "other" code rather than the blogger one for the same reason.

Sarah and Emily - No need to thank me!! Would have been very selfish of me to discover this and not pass it on to everyone!

Alicia - It's definately extremely useful to people on the programme...maybe I'll suggest it to Paula!

Hello Liam,
Thank you for this link, I will try it out as soon as I am back home. I don't have so many comments to answer up to this point, yet I already see that blogspot is really missing on a good solution for comment-responding.
Will give you more feedback when I tried this!

Wow this is an ingenious idea! I have just signed up! why had we not discovered this before!!

i am now going to try this i have noticed you can subscribe by email. which appears just bellow the comment box as your writing a comment. i am going to see if this works as efficently as i would like it to.
if it doesnt i am going to take your advise.

i just thought... it would be good if you got a blogg update on our bapp page so we could see who has blogged.

Well Charlie seems to have discovered an even easier solution here!

It seems that if you just click the "subscribe" button at the bottom of the comment window you're typing in, it automatically sends follow up comments to your gmail account as emails...

I will be giving this a try to see which is most efficient.

i am quiet impressed with it as i get an email with your comment on it.
so i dont have to go on to BAPP to go into your blogg to read it or comment back you just simply clicl on the email.
Web 2.0 is quiet efficiant with in our blogging too.

on the other hand it might make me not reflect on my BAPP topics given so thats abit of a concern no reflecting back at what i have written.
