Task 3b: Theories Relating to Networking

Of all the readers so far, I found this one the most difficult to get comfortable with. There are a lot of quite heavy concepts to process. This is what has resulted from me muddling through the theories, let me know what you think.

Liam, I really admire how well you are able to express yourself. Your blog is one of the most inspiring ones and more than once you have helped me to understand Tasks better. Thank you at this point.

I think you have found a good balance between serious academic writing and personal reference to the actual theme. I need to read through Reader 3 again as it is again so much input that it's hard for me to arrange all the information in my head so I will come back to you later.
The past days I was working intensly on the BAPP-tasks, and I also realised how each one of these tasks is forcing me to re-think all my blogentries. All of this makes me analyse my actions consciously. I think this is creepy - but in a positive way. As for you I think it will make you even more successful in your profession as a teacher.

I would love to discuss more with you after I cought up with this task.

Hi Nina,

First of all, thank you very much for the compliments, I'm very flattered!

Reader 3 is without doubt (in my opinion) the most difficult to process and get your head around. It took me many attempts of reading to start to get to grips with it, so don't worry, just keep going over it and it will start to clear up. As Phil Carrol keeps saying, it's like reading through treacle!

I love your use of the word "creepy". I suppose it is a bit creepy really, to look at yourself truly objectively and in doing so change the way you think and learn. Quite profound!

I will look forward to discussing further!

Liam I am unlike you, I find it do hard to understand things but I find that it helps if I read other peoples blogs to make my own thoughts spiral off. I always turn to yours and Emily Brenchley's bloggs as you have such understanding of the subjects and for some reason I understand yours more than the reader.
Is there a certain way you tackle it or strategy you use.
Thank you
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

The two things do that help clarify the theories and subjects of the readers are to read them over and over and over, because I rarely understand them the first or second times! I read it once, leave it a couple of days, read it again etc until I feel I've got a grasp of it.

The second thing I do is I try to apply as much as I can to myself and my own experiences as I read. If you can create your own examples of the ideas you are reading about it seems to create a stronger connection with the material.

Does that make sense? Just keep chipping away at it. Like Phil Carrol says, it's like reading through treacle a lot of the time, but you'll get there!

Hi Liam,
I am interested to learn how you would now cooperate with the school that treated you badly? With retrospect, would you still want to work with them? Or have you found/learnt a strategy to be more assertaive? I think it is difficult to know what to do because at this stage of your career, you obviously want the business/experience. I think this has been an excellent source of experience for you, but surely one you are not keen to repeat!
Sarah
